During the project-status and director’s report, Gail Hendrickson told the commission the department will bring two ordinance hearings in September: Ordinance 26-09 (an application to allow short-term rentals and floating residences) and Ordinance 26-10 (corrections to the county’s digital zoning map). She also said the county’s regional housing task force will meet Aug. 26 to review a new federal housing bill; from an initial review she does not expect immediate local changes.
Hendrickson also reported that the department is recruiting for a building official: the last recruitment closed Aug. 4 and two candidates will be interviewed. Commissioners briefly asked about the status of the FEMA Biological Opinion (BiOp); Hendrickson said there were no updates. The commission adjourned following a motion and second.
