Board OKs extended paid sick leave for two library employees through Aug. 10
Summary
Trustees approved extended paid sick leave to continue paying two staff members, Linda DaSilva and Donna Furey, through Aug. 10, 2026, under the CSEA Local 882 AFSCME contract provisions.
Trustee Mary Maguire moved to approve extended paid sick leave to pay Account Clerk Linda DaSilva and Librarian II Donna Furey through Aug. 10, 2026, or until they are able to return to work. Trustee Paul O'Grady seconded the motion, and trustees voted unanimously to approve the payments under the contract between the Incorporated Village of Garden City and CSEA Local 882 AFSCME (effective June 1, 2025; ratified Oct. 23, 2025).
The approval covers payroll through Aug. 10, 2026, or an earlier return date, and was recorded as a unanimous board action. Staff were instructed to process payroll in accordance with the contract provisions.
