Marty Spencer, introduced to the board as eastern district director for the University of Idaho Extension, summarized extension work across the Eastern District and described local impacts and staffing changes.
"My role is the eastern district director for University of Idaho extension," Spencer said, noting the Eastern District supervises extension work in 14 southeast Idaho counties. She presented statewide statistics, saying extension recorded "over 475,000 direct face to face teaching content" in the most recent reporting period and described youth programming and 4-H impacts shared in an annual report.
Spencer told commissioners the office is interviewing candidates for local and state roles, including a selection process underway for a state 4-H director. She encouraged commissioners to reach out if they need support from extension programs and confirmed extension will maintain a presence at the Idaho Association of Counties conference in September.
The board thanked extension staff for their support and said they would continue coordination ahead of fair-week activities where extension plays a role in 4-H events.
