Chair Julie Noble described a ready-to-submit funding request to install rooftop solar at Deep Stadium on two west-facing buildings: the visitor-storage shed and the large concession stand. The design includes structural provisions for rooftop arrays and is intended to make the sites "shovel ready" for grant funding.
The chair said the request seeks funding to install approximately "28.6 kW DC of rooftop solar" across the two systems and reported an expected annual generation figure of about "35,000 kWh/year," which staff said would offset stadium facility electricity consumption. Commissioners discussed technical readiness, structural evaluations and the need for a kickoff with the installation consultant; staff said design evaluations should be completed by the end of the year and that the project is eligible for funding through the consolidated application process.
The commission moved to provide a support letter for the solar project; the chair called the vote after discussion. Commissioners emphasized tying the letter to clear project scope and structural evaluation timelines.
