At the July 8 meeting the Ipswich Conservation Commission reviewed a site visit report for 48 County Road and concluded construction (driveway and stairs) had been carried out in areas where structures are restricted under the existing permit. Bob Griffin of Griffin Engineering said he disagreed that the stairs caused impacts, but the commission noted that the driveway and stairs were not approved and that 2:1 mitigation is required.
Chair Jennifer Hughes suggested the applicant consider filing a Formal Amendment for after-the-fact work (which would incur triple filing fees) or to submit an alternatives analysis documenting why the driveway and stairs are necessary. Commissioner James (Jim) Stone moved to continue the matter to Sept. 2, 2026; the motion was seconded by Commissioner ffolliott and passed unanimously.
