Board addresses EMS staffing spike, accepts resignation and hires an EMT

Mayor Peter Lennon presented the EMS call report in Bryan Whitaker's absence and told trustees that a county report of 22 missed calls is under investigation; he attributed a local spike in missed calls to a temporary staffing shortage when both the captain and lieutenant were unavailable for about a week. The EMS report listed 11 transports for the month and said personnel actions were forthcoming.
On new business the board approved the resignation of ALS provider LeRoy Burlingame and the hiring of EMT Kyle Button at the BLS level; Trustee James Crawford moved the personnel action and Deputy Mayor Dave Smith seconded. Lennon also reported interviews for two additional EMT candidates were scheduled.
