Committee member Natalie told the meeting the service—described as a free roadside assistance program for flat tires, battery jumps and minor mechanical help—began last Monday and was reported in the Bluffton newspaper on Aug. 9.
"It's a free roadside service, covers Interstate 95 from mile marker 0 to 18," Natalie said. Members discussed signage, the blue service truck people will see on the highway and local outreach to make sure drivers know how to access the service at night or in emergencies. The committee did not vote on any related action but asked that the availability be publicized so motorists can take advantage of the program.
