Design Review update set for council review; staff aims to finish draft by October

Chairman Lindeman opened the meeting and the board moved reports to the top of the agenda to allow a council liaison briefing.
Emily Falco, planning staff, said the design-review rewrite is focused on core design principles and will return for at least one more workshop with the board before going to council. "I know I believe they're trying to wrap this up by October, I think is the goal," Falco said.
Councilman Merrill, the council liaison, told the board he expects members to be present and prepared to discuss the final document with council. He asked that the board and design-review staff have an extended pre-council hour so board members can explain choices and respond to questions rather than facing a brief discussion during a council meeting.
Why it matters: the update is intended to modernize the city's design standards and ensure consistent application across reviews; staff indicated the package will come to council as a resolution once the board signs off.
