Fire department reports 19 calls in August; EMS updates billing and staffing plans

Fire Department reported 19 calls for August and scheduled CPR/AED training on Sept. 29 and a Harvest Dinner Nov. 6–9; EMS reported 15 transports and three other billables in August and said it is meeting with a billing service and seeking more drivers while updating SOPs.
Shawn Patrick, representing the Fire Department, told the board the department handled 19 calls in August, added a new high-school member and plans a fund-drive letter next month. He said engines 251 and 252 received pump servicing and that members signed up for county training; the department will host a Harvest Dinner Nov. 6–9 at the Chobani Community Center and is scheduling CPR/AED training on Sept. 29 with extra public seats.
On EMS matters Mayor Peter Lennon and EMS administrator Bryan Whitaker reported 15 transports and three other billables in August. Whitaker said he is meeting with MultiMed billing service, updating Standard Operating Procedures, reallocating some administrative shifts to increase on-duty coverage and working with Kathryn Dunham on EMS financials; he also noted outreach to neighboring agencies and that the Town of Columbus requested a proposal for their Sept. 11 meeting.
