Town installs CrowdStrike sensor; board approves splitting computer funds and discusses IT support

Supervisor Betsy Bain told the board the Falcon sensor from CrowdStrike has been installed on the clerk’s and the buildings/codes inspector’s computers and thanked Craig Pederson for performing the installation.
The Board then approved Resolution #92 to split previously-authorized computer funds so both the clerk and the supervisor receive $1,500 each toward new machines; Kathy O'Connell moved the resolution and Meg Parascandola seconded it. The board asked Clerk Stephanie Smith to speak with a Dell representative about state contract pricing; Parascandola will coordinate the purchase.
Members discussed the town’s IT support. Bain said the current IT technician has not been responsive and suggested a change; Councilman Neil McGovern supported finding a new provider. The board weighed whether IT should be a contracted service or an employee position and noted volunteer help may require a formal services contract. The board tabled a final decision pending further investigation of options and potential county partnerships.
