Council defers rezoning petition for proposed commercial solar project

The Jerseyville City Council voted to defer action on a rezoning petition for a proposed commercial solar energy system on parcel #04-022-005-00. Commissioner Jennifer Graklanoff moved “to approve deferring petition submitted by Paul Irby regarding amending zoning of parcel #04-022-005-00 from unclassified to M-2 for commercial solar energy system,” and Commissioner Anthony Steckel seconded; the motion passed by unanimous roll call vote.
Council minutes state the applicant provided additional information that will be reviewed by outside counsel before the planning and zoning board takes the matter up at its March 19 meeting. The deferral means the council will not vote on the zoning change until after the planning and zoning board has reviewed the additional materials and any legal analysis from outside counsel.
