The Lackawanna City Council unanimously approved a contract award to CATCO to install a new traffic signal at the intersection of Steelawanna Avenue and Ridge Road.
In a written request, Daniel Geercken, Senior Foreman of Public Works, stated: "The Department of Public Works request that the council approve CATCO for the installation of the new traffic signal at the intersection of Steelawanna Ave and Ridge Rd. Bid price of $399,558.95 (lowest of the bids)." The memo listed competing bids from Occhino ($460,892.50) and Millennium ($624,626.00). Council moved to approve the request (motion by Muflahi, second by Moretti) and the motion carried 4-0.
The council did not record further debate on design or schedule at the meeting; staff will proceed with contract execution and project coordination. The Department of Public Works submitted the bid recommendation as part of its regular communications to the council.
