Stephen Cooksey, the district academic lead, presented preliminary STAAR results and told the board that most scored areas are above the state average while "there are several that are below state average." He explained that some score areas and accountability ratings remain pending and that rescoring requests could delay additional results until later in the summer.
Cooksey said the district's goal is to be 5 percentage points above the state average in all assessed areas and that an in-depth presentation will be provided once all scores and accountability ratings are available. The board received the preliminary results as information; no final accountability determinations were made at the July meeting.
