Town Manager Matt Spuck told council he would like the Onancock Volunteer Fire Department (OVFD) to submit three bids for a commercial washer/dryer extractor before the town approves a donation for the equipment. "I suggested the Onancock Volunteer Fire Department submit three bids for review before voting on donating the money for the washer and dryer," Spuck said during Council Action.
Public commenter Glenn Smith noted that the county had purchased two additional extractors that are being stationed at the Painter Firehouse and suggested OVFD investigate whether one could be stationed locally instead of the town funding a separate donation. No donation decision was made at the meeting; Spuck recommended a competitive-bid approach before council considers funding.
