Student services outlines layered safety measures; district rolls out anonymous 'Stop It' reporting app

The student services department briefed the board on layered school safety measures and the district’s adoption of an anonymous reporting platform.
Dr. Yancey described access controls, security cameras, visitor check-in through CheckMate, Syntegix alert badges for staff and the I Love You Guys Foundation standard response protocol. He said the district partnered with Lightspeed to implement the Stop It anonymous reporting and crisis response platform in accordance with House Bill 268; the app was deployed July 1 and is available on student Chromebooks and for personal devices. "The system provides students, staff, parents, and community members with access to a 24/7 multilingual reporting platform," Dr. Yancey said.
A board member asked whether anyone had used the app; Dr. Yancey cited an early example involving a lost item that helped staff locate it and said the district will publicize the app via websites, newsletters and signage while monitoring use. The report also included three action items for approval (out-of-state trips for Oconee County Middle School FFA, North Oconee wrestling and Oconee County High DECA), which the board approved as a group.
