Oconee County Schools board ratifies FY27 millage rate at 13.836 mills

The Oconee County Board of Education unanimously approved a final FY27 millage rate of 13.836 mills at its Aug. 10 meeting.
Mr. Adams, presenting the business services report, recommended the district ratify the full rollback millage rate, noting the board had tentatively adopted a rate at its June 15 meeting and the required public notices and advertisements were published. "Oconee County Schools recommends full rollback millage rate of 13.836 mills, which is a decrease of 0.126 mills from last year's millage rate," Mr. Adams said. The board recorded the vote as 4-0 in favor.
The administration told the board that July cash balances had declined modestly month-to-month but that state funding projections remain stable and the district is positioned to meet fiscal obligations. Budget and tax digest documentation related to the rate was attached to the meeting materials.
The board’s ratification completes the local step needed to set the property tax rate for school operations; the administration said ad valorem collections will begin to appear in November reports.
