District staff says stadium video board and sound system are at end of life; quote ~ $500,000
Summary
Brownfield ISD staff told the board the stadium scoreboard and sound system are at end of life and cited a quote of $500,000 for a new video board and sound system; staff said the district currently has roughly $70,000 and received about $680,000 from TEA that reduced this year's deficit.

District staff reported that the stadium video board and sound system are effectively at the end of their usable lives and that replacement estimates are substantial. "So, the price for the video board and the new sound system that we got quoted is $500,000," said the director/staff member (speaker 3), who said he would price smaller options but that a full replacement is a major expenditure.
The staff member said the district has about $70,000 currently toward that project and noted a separate settlement payment from TEA. "We did get a settle up payment today from TEA for about $680,000, which is for last year," the staff member said, adding that the payment "basically cut into the deficit that we've got this year." The board did not take formal action on the stadium equipment at the meeting; staff said they will pursue pricing and potential sponsorships or smaller interim fixes.
