Chris explained the practical effect for staff: the district will expect staff to move interactions with students and families to approved, monitorable platforms rather than using personal devices as the default. "We're not saying you can't do that anymore. We want you to invest in building relationships with students and families. It just needs to be on a platform that we can monitor," he said. Leadership training for principals and building leadership teams will begin immediately, followed by building‑level staff training; administration also said alternative approved channels beyond Skyward will be available in case of outages.
Board members asked whether the training would apply to board members; administration recommended board members follow the same guidance and offered to include them in the training. The board approved the policy revisions as presented.
