Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Kathryn Dunham reported the Village was awarded the Chobani Legacy Grant for $250,000 to support Hyde Park refurbishment, and trustees discussed likely priorities including playground equipment replacement, a new basketball court and potential gazebo repair or repositioning. Mayor Lennon and Trustee Maryellen Canuel said the grant will cover major upgrades but that the Board should assemble a committee to draft a prioritized list of projects in case costs exceed available funds.
"This grant was awarded in the amount of $250,000.00 for the park," Kathryn said. Trustees and staff noted that $250,000 may not cover every desired improvement and discussed seeking additional donors or grants; they agreed to develop a prioritized scope before beginning construction so the Board can adjust based on actual bids and funding availability.
The Board also flagged schedule concerns for annual events (such as the summer concert series) that could be affected by construction and asked staff to prepare a timeline and staging plan for the park work before committing to designs or contractor selection.
