Jason Santiago of Good Shepherd Communities presented initial renderings and details for a proposed 60‑bed Chase facility in New Berlin. Santiago said the proposal would include 20 short‑term/rehab beds and 40 long‑term care beds, more private rooms and additional green space. "Chase currently has $8M in grant funding for this project which is estimated to run in excess of $30M," Santiago said.
Santiago told trustees the proposed site is about 7.6 acres (not the larger 12+ acre parcel previously considered). He said demolition of the existing building would cost about $1.2 million and that the developer is exploring options to transition the existing structure to a new use, which may or may not remain in senior health care. The presentation included an estimate of roughly 35 construction workers on site daily during the projected construction period.
