Highway Superintendent Randy LaVarnway told the board that the topcoat of pavement on Pelcher Road is complete and he thanked Hamilton County for assistive shoulder work using county equipment. LaVarnway said the highway crew has returned to a five‑day, eight‑hour schedule; as a result, residents may see shifts in garbage pickup timing and are reminded to have garbage out by 7:00 a.m. on pickup days.
LaVarnway said paperwork to obtain reimbursement for work in Perkins Clearing was confirmed and the town should receive funds within roughly two weeks. He and Councilperson Parascandola have contacted FEMA about outstanding funding; FEMA has not yet replied but staff said they are prepared to file a dispute if necessary. LaVarnway reported Parks and Recreation is adding close to $10,000 to existing snowmobile grant funds. He noted one plow truck is ready for state roads and another will be prepped; a new truck ordered in 2022 arrived at a Watertown dealer in Aug. 2023 and is expected to have plow and dump body installed by mid‑December.
