Friends of the Library donate $6,000; town lists fall events and a Nov. 6 public talk

During public comment and roundtable, Friends of the Library member Sandy LaVarnwa presented a $6,000 donation to Library Director Katrina Cohea to support library programs and events in 2025. Guest Shorty Hoffman reported more than 60 visitors at the museum since its reopening and recounted genealogical research visits by descendants of local teachers.
Supervisor Betsy Bain announced several community events: the Bear and Wine Festival on Sept. 20 at the Speculator Pavilion, Apple Fest on Sept. 27 and Oaktoberfest on Sept. 28. Bain also said Amy Granger from Probation arranged for Chris Herren to speak at Wells School on Nov. 6, 2025, on his history with addiction; the presentation will be open to the schools and the public.
