Lake Pleasant board holds public hearing on 2026 preliminary budget; levy stays below 2% cap

Supervisor Betsy Bain opened the public hearing on the town’s 2026 preliminary budget at 7:18 P.M. after the board distributed the draft on Oct. 22 and published notice as required. The board’s preliminary budget shows an estimated levy increase of about 1.94%, below this year’s 2% statutory cap.
Budget Officer Nancy Seifts and council members discussed changes to the town’s health insurance renewal that McGovern said will keep coverage under MVP on a different plan that reduces cost; HRA cards to cover extra medical expenses for full‑time employees will remain available. The board also reviewed line items including the dog‑kennel agreement and the town’s share of seasonal snowflake lighting. Supervisor Bain invited public questions; guest Shorty Hoffman asked whether retiree health insurance would change, and the board confirmed retiree coverage will not change for 2026.
The board closed the public hearing at 8:18 P.M. by adopting Resolution #151. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Nov. 17, 2025, at 7:00 P.M. at the Lake Pleasant Library.
