Town orders $2,652.12 bear-proof bin; paving work complete on Page and Pelcher streets

Bain said Page Street and Pelcher Road "have been paved" and shoulder work will follow. She reported the DEC project in Perkins Clearing "has been brush cut." On wildlife concerns, Bain said a bear got into the health center garbage and the town has ordered a bear-proof bin; she reported the cost as "$2,652.12, including shipping." The Village of Speculator will pick up garbage three days a week until the bin arrives, which Bain said has an estimated delivery date of Aug. 29.
Bain also noted there was no update on a new plow truck and that Auctions International will list the old pickup. She relayed LaVarnway's thanks to neighboring towns, county and state agencies for assistance with recent paving work.
