During public comment, resident Janice Berry raised safety concerns for students crossing Snedeker Street onto Jefferson Street near the High School, recounting that she "recently witnessed a student walking on hill along Snedeker St. who slipped down hill and landed near her vehicle." Berry asked the council to consider moving the related sidewalk/crosswalk project up the schedule to protect students.
Public Works Director Manns responded that the city is finalizing easements, acquisitions and permits required before accepting bids for the project. Manns also noted park-restroom availability: Berry said she had been checking restrooms at Dolan Park and suggested that when restrooms are open they should be closed promptly after activities to reduce vandalism; Manns said restrooms are closed during winter months and that signage near the Middle School to reduce the speed limit to 20 mph is expected by the next council meeting.
