Jerseyville council OKs weekly Farmers & Artisan Market agreement, waives plaza fee

The Jerseyville City Council voted to approve a rental agreement allowing the Jersey County Business Association to operate a weekly Farmers & Artisan Market at City Center Plaza from June 2 through Sept. 1 on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The motion to approve the agreement was made by Commissioner Jennifer Graklanoff and seconded by Commissioner Anthony Steckel; the council voted unanimously to adopt the measure.
The council also unanimously approved a separate motion to waive the rental fee for the association’s use of the plaza. Commissioner Steve Pohlman moved the fee waiver, with Commissioner John Miles seconding. As noted in council discussion, "No market will be held July 14th due to Jersey County Fair Parade." The council recorded no nays on either motion.
