District staff presented proposed strategic-plan revisions that emphasize measurable outcomes: reducing chronic absenteeism, increasing 3rd-grade reading readiness, ensuring 9th-grade students are on track, and boosting volunteerism. Lynelle told the board the district will "pull out a few pieces to highlight" and use checkpoints and data sessions to connect boardroom goals to classroom practice.
On literacy work, staff described continuing Literacy Learning Labs aligned to the Science of Reading and noted partnerships with an Early Literacy Accelerator (referred to as WELA) to support data checkpoints and backward planning for lead teachers. Staff said the labs are job-embedded professional learning and are funded through existing professional learning funds rather than as a new budget item.
