Director Debbie Johnson said the district pays "$12,500 per month" for the arrangement and asked for the monthly cost and student counts to be on the public record.
Executive Director Connor McCroskey and other staff explained the Jim Tangeman Center is a placement used only after a district exhausts in-district resources and completes extensive assessments. McCroskey said the district typically places about "3 and 5 students" at the center and noted the district applies for state safety-net reimbursement to recover costs the state does not otherwise cover. After discussion the board approved the 2026–27 interdistrict cooperative agreement by voice vote (recorded as 4-0).
