Arcola sets preliminary tax rate unchanged, schedules public hearing Sept. 16

City Administrator Annette Goldberg told the council the county provided tax-rate options and staff recommended keeping the tax rate unchanged for fiscal year 2025'2026. Goldberg gave the county's figures: no-new-revenue rate 0.6459, voter-approval rate 0.7227, and the proposed rate the administration recommended remaining the same at 0.64961900.
Council member Greg (motion) moved to approve the preliminary ad valorem tax rate and set a public hearing for 6 p.m. on Sept. 16, 2025 at Arcola City Hall (13222 Highway 6). The council approved the ordinance on first reading as placed on the agenda; city staff said they would publish the notice and follow required public-hearing procedures. A roll-call vote was requested for the ordinance on the record during the meeting.
