Ellen Levy and other Housing Committee members said they will study how the town’s zoning affects affordable housing and whether revisions could require a developer to include a percentage of below‑market housing in new projects. Members cited zoning updates in Copake and Canaan, and noted Egremont and Stockbridge as additional examples to review.
The committee asked volunteers to examine the local code and comparable towns’ regulations to identify specific changes. Shirley Bresler agreed to review the Hillsdale zoning code; Frank Upham and Ellen Levy will study Copake and Canaan and report back to the group with suggested edits or options for the committee to consider.
