The Arcola City Council approved two related expenditures: a City Hall landscaping and site-leveling project capped at $25,000 and a contract for maintenance-worker uniforms not to exceed $6,300 annually.
Council member Mary Vida B. Williams explained the landscaping proposal and said the work would improve safety and the city's appearance. On the uniform contract, councilmembers argued that breathable, purpose-built materials would improve comfort for maintenance workers and present a more professional city image.
Motions to approve both items were made and seconded during the meeting and moved forward as part of the consent/discussion agenda.
