Bayfield County Parks staff reported that two contractors attended the mandatory pre-bid meeting for a trestle repair project and that both submitted bids. After an initial review, staff said the lowest bid is about $40,000 over the budget established by the awarded Wisconsin DNR grant.
Committee members were told staff will explore options before formally awarding a contract. Staff listed one option as requesting additional grant funds from the DNR to cover the difference; the minutes do not record a decision to award a contract or to commit county funds. The committee did not take final action at the July 13 meeting.
The minutes indicate staff will return with further information once options are evaluated and grant discussions with the DNR have progressed.
