Honey Dog Farms offers $20,000 yearly gift to maintain Appletree Lane as gravel road

Supervisor Mike Dvorchak told the Town of Hillsdale Gift Committee on June 5 that Honey Dog Farms submitted a May 19, 2025 request offering $20,000.00 per year to maintain Appletree Lane as a loose-gravel road. Dvorchak said the road is 0.49 miles long and that the donation equates to $40,816.00 per mile per year; the proposed agreement length was revised to 3.5 years with payments beginning July 1, 2025 (a partial 2025 payment) and then on January 1 of each year.
Highway Superintendent Richard Briggs questioned the adequacy of the amount, saying, "It's a little less than the cost." Town Clerk Robina Ward said the contribution "would help defray the costs." Dvorchak said Honey Dog Farms would be the sole donor. He also noted the offer includes termination language in the proposal and that he will have the Town Attorney review the agreement before the town board considers it. The Gift Committee voted to recommend acceptance to the town board, subject to resident notification and attorney review.
