Staff presented a properties-and-facilities recommendation to divest the district’s responsibility for the Resaca Elementary sewer lift by transferring ownership or management to Middle Smithfield Township for a nominal $1. Staff said the township will assume maintenance and the district would cease being responsible for repairs.
In discussion, a staff member stated, “Middle Smithfield Township is offering us $1 to purchase it,” and clarified the district’s involvement: the district owns a pump/lift that sends sewage to the township system and transferring responsibility would remove repair obligations. Separately, staff said they will present two RFQs to the full board to explore sustainable forestry options for North Campus and to solicit interest from health-care providers to build and lease a facility on district-owned land that currently contains underground infrastructure intended for a second elementary school.
The board approved the recommendations; staff will prepare the formal agreements and RFQs for full-board consideration and subsequent action.
