RecPlex solar array active; April production reported above forecast, staff says

The director of recreation and facilities (speaker 10) presented a performance update on the RecPlex solar array, saying the system "went live on March 13." He reported production that month and said April production was about 121 megawatts—about 4.5% above the forecast for the month—and estimated electricity-cost savings for April in the range of $16,000 to $18,000 based on blended utility rates.
"For March, we forecasted 75 megawatts... we generated just over 41 megawatts," he said, and added that April's full-month production exceeded the forecast. Staff cautioned that the dollar savings figure is an estimate until billing arrives but said the system appears to be on track to meet a roughly $75,000 annual savings figure included in this year's budget.
Commissioners congratulated staff on the rollout and asked follow-up questions. Staff noted seasonal variability and cloud cover affect production curves and explained the next steps involve reconciling the first utility bill to confirm net savings.
