The Howell City Council unanimously approved rezoning parcel 4717‑36‑307‑043, commonly referred to as 401 E. Grand River, from B‑1 (Local Business) to CBD (Central Business) during its June 22 meeting.
City Manager Kristi Troy provided background on the parcel and noted that no site plan had been submitted. Council discussed the Planning Commission recommendation and whether the rezoning would be consistent with surrounding land uses; Jan Lobur moved to approve the rezoning and Alex Clos supported the motion. "To approve the rezoning petition for parcel 4717‑36‑307‑043, otherwise known as 401 E. Grand River, from B‑1, Local Business to CBD, Central Business," the motion read and passed unanimously.
Council did not review a site plan; the rezoning approval allows future development consistent with CBD zoning but any specific project will require separate site plan review and approvals.
