Committee member Pat Ryan asked when work on the Blue Iris Project would begin and when its special use permit was issued. Ryan also called attention to an April Spain/Portugal outage that resulted in an approximately 18‑hour blackout, raising grid‑reliability concerns during the discussion.
Committee member Joe Witte said Farmer City did not approve the Santa Anna Solar project; the zoning report notes Santa Anna planned to apply as a community solar project rather than a commercial project. Members requested clarification of the statute that governs projects developed within 1.5 miles of a municipality when the municipality has not approved the project.
The committee did not take a final vote on any zoning changes at this meeting; the discussion concluded with a request for statutory clarification and possible follow‑up at a future meeting.
