Allied Sign Co. drops freestanding sign request, wins permit to add third wall sign

Greg Fischel, representing Allied Sign Company, told the Zoning Board he was withdrawing the firm's request for an Area Variance for a freestanding sign and asked the board to approve only an increase in the number of wall signs from two to three. He said the additional wall sign "would be the same size as the existing oval sign, non-illuminated."
After staff and board questions produced no objections, Member Michael Becker moved to approve the wall-sign variance conditioned on substantial compliance with Exhibit A. The motion passed on roll call 4-1: Becker, Porter and Frantzis voted in favor; Deputy Chair Karen Liebi opposed; Chairperson Vivian Mason voted in favor. The approval does not extend to the freestanding-sign request, which the applicant withdrew.
