HENDRICKS COUNTY — The Board of Commissioners authorized staff to begin contract negotiations with Studio View to serve as architect for a proposed new Judicial Center at the East Campus and to study repurposing the existing courthouse for other county offices.
Commissioner Dennis W. Dawes moved to enter into contract negotiations and said the plan is to build at the East Campus and "repurpose our current, beautiful Courthouse with other offices, to move the process forward." The motion passed unanimously (vote 3‑0‑0). Commissioners said further work will be required to determine which functions stay downtown to maintain foot traffic on the Square.
