Mercer County Sheriff's Office officials reported a jail census total of 51 inmates at the March 26, 2026 Law Enforcement Committee meeting: Illinois & Iowa USMS=5; Mercer County=18; Cook County=8; Scott County=19.
Administrative assistant Alanna Fobert presented the department's February 2026 activity report that included: 55 traffic citations issued; 37 individuals in custody at the beginning of the month; 29 new bookings; five newly sentenced; 41 foreign inmates held; 1,310 total inmate days; 723 foreign inmate days; 699 county calls for service; 597 E‑911 calls; and 17 accidents handled.
The committee also reviewed a line‑by‑line housing and transport summary for February that lists Illinois USMS housing of $7,995 (paid) and USMS transport $1,593.45 (paid), plus Cook County housing $15,120 and Scott County housing $19,030. The minutes list a total of $43,858.45 in housing/transport charges for the month. The figures were presented for committee review and forwarded as part of routine reporting to the full board.
