Facilities report: new cooler/freezer, hydroseeding and press box due before football season

Staff member (S4) reported several facilities improvements at Freeman School District 33-1. The kitchen received a new cooler and freezer; kitchen staff expressed appreciation for the replacement. The athletic field received hydromulch/hydroseeding and irrigation repairs; despite a few dead spots caused by recent 100-degree heat days, watering had revived most of the seeded areas. The press box is scheduled for installation later in the week and audio-system installation is planned for the week of the 24th so that systems will be ready for the first game.
The board was told asbestos abatement (summer round two) and new carpet installation in classrooms are complete and that work to finish concession-stand fixtures and restroom installations is underway. The staff noted the top layer of the track remains a concern because wind-blown dust could affect the finish, and that temporary measures (plywood over the track) may be needed for a September 11 football game if the final layer is delayed.
