Preston council adopts ordinance formalizing changes to major street plan

City clerk Linda Haycock read the ordinance in full: "An ordinance of the city of Preston, Idaho vacating portions of future city rights of way as shown on the city's major street plan and adding portions of the future city rights of way to be shown on the city's major street plan," which specifies segments including parts of 1200 North (State Street to where 1100 North connects), a segment across the Franklin County Fairgrounds, 500 North between 800 West and 900 West, and stretches of 900 West. Staff noted the change restates earlier Planning & Zoning approvals and places the revisions into ordinance form.
Council member Chris Larson moved to introduce and approve the ordinance; the motion was seconded and a roll-call vote recorded unanimous "aye" responses. Staff said the ordinance simply gives formal city-code effect to the major-street-plan edits reviewed previously by Planning & Zoning.
The council concluded that the change aligns the major street plan with recent planning actions and will let the city and developers proceed under the updated map.
