Lyon County reports nearly 500 permits and 2,502 inspections in April–July update

Community Development Director Gavin Henderson presented the department’s April–July 2026 report and said the county processed roughly 492 permits over the four-month period and performed 2,502 inspections.
Henderson told commissioners that new single-family permits numbered 12 in that window and, when combined with master-plan/track homes, totaled about 138 new homes countywide. “So in total for the last [four months], we had about 492 permits, and our inspectors went out and performed 2,502 inspections,” Henderson said. He added accessory-structure permits (detached garages, sheds over 200 sq ft) totaled 39.
Henderson said plan-review timelines currently average about three weeks, with a typical range of three to five weeks, and acknowledged a temporary backlog after a plan examiner took two weeks’ leave. The department posts timeline updates on the county website so applicants can see expected turnaround times and the status of planning applications.
