Huron board adopts investment, meeting schedule and hires town attorney

The Huron Town Board opened its 2025 organizational meeting on Jan. 2, 2025. Supervisor David Fantuzzo called the session to order at 5:00 p.m. and the board approved a package of procedural items including the Town’s investment policies and a calendar setting regular meetings for the first and third Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m.
The board also approved a contract for town legal services. "RESOLVED, to contract with Knauf Shaw, LLP as Town Attorney for the year 2025 as per budget," the minutes state. The transcript records the motion as moved by Councilmember Bob Cahoon and seconded by Councilmember Tom Wetherby; the vote on the attorney contract is recorded in the minutes as AYES 5, NAYS 0. (The roll call earlier in the minutes lists three members present and two absent.)
Other administrative choices included designating the Times of Wayne County as the town's official paper and Lyons National Bank as the official banking institution. Supervisor Fantuzzo noted the town is revising its employee handbook and said it will be returned to the board for approval when complete. "We are working on revising the Handbook; when complete we will bring it to the board for approval," Fantuzzo told the board.
Actions recorded in the minutes include multiple adopted resolutions and unanimous or recorded-board votes. The meeting adjourned at 5:07 p.m.
