"The truck is... roughly, 78,834. The grant amount is $61,009.24. So our matching is 16,900," the staff member said when asked about costs and the district match. Directors questioned whether an EV meets operational needs for some roles and whether the district has charging infrastructure. One director said the district has historically reallocated retired fire vehicles for other uses and asked whether that practice should continue instead of buying new EVs now.
Staff said they have applied for a separate charging‑station grant and that grant would require no match, but the charging plan is not yet included in the budget. Directors asked staff to clarify vehicle specifications, total fleet replacement costs and propose a multi‑year replacement schedule.
