Le Roy administrators cite strong elementary assessment results, update Special Education Parent Guide and propose student peer support

Elementary Principal Peter Greene distributed New York State 2024-25 assessment data for Grades 3–6 (ELA and Math) and Grade 5 Science and reported that Wolcott Street School finished in the top five in the Genesee Valley region in multiple grade/subject categories including 3rd grade math; 4th grade ELA and math; 5th grade math and science; and 6th grade ELA.
Dr. Rae Lynn Helman presented the updated New York State Special Education Parent’s Guide for preschool and school‑age students, noting the guide's last update was in the 1990s. The guidebook has been distributed to parents via ParentSquare and parents may request a mailed hard copy. Dr. Helman and Ms. Armbrewster are planning a question-and-answer session for parents prior to administering a parent survey.
Student Ex-Officio Elise Fisher reported on the Emerging Knights group and shared survey results from Mrs. Bertrand’s class regarding school climate and emotional regulation. She said students offered suggestions for better supporting emotional and mental health and that Emerging Knights, with administrators and faculty, are exploring a peer‑support group to pair older students with younger grade levels to assist transition from Wolcott Street School to the Jr./Sr. High School.
