Board schedules Restore NY public hearing; resident proposes Jell‑O Factory distillery

Trustee Raymond Yacuzzo moved to schedule a public hearing on Dec. 12, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall to discuss the Restore NY grant funding application and property assessment list for rehabilitating a Main Street commercial building; the motion passed unanimously.
During public‑facing discussion, resident Earl Funderburk described plans to convert the historic Jell‑O Factory on North Street into a distillery and said he had a business plan and had met with banks and the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC). Funderburk suggested the project might fit the Restore NY application; trustees and staff reviewed the grant guidelines and determined that projects not included in the original letter of intent cannot be added to the application.
The board also approved a festival permit for the LeRoy Business Council’s Winterfest (Dec. 7, 2024, noon–5:00 p.m.). The Restore NY public hearing will provide a forum for property owners and stakeholders to discuss eligible projects and the Village’s application.
