The Greenway Conservancy approved several trail grant awards recommended by the Grants Committee during the March 11 meeting. Notable awards included $250,000 to the Rye Town Park Commission for an ADA-compliant promenade restoration, $66,000 to the Village of Monroe for a Heritage Trail Connector, and $33,600 to the Village of Walden for the Olley Park Trail Project. The NY–NJ Trail Conference was recommended $7,500 for Anthony’s Nose Trail Rehabilitation; Jane Daniels recused herself from the vote on that particular grant.
Executive Director Andy Kitzmann presented the committee recommendations. The motion to approve the Conservancy Trail Grant applications was moved by Jane Daniels and seconded by Sarah Olson; the grants were recorded as approved in the meeting minutes. Several applicant representatives (including NY–NJ Trail Conference Executive Director Josh Howard and Orange County Land Trust’s Chris Chapman) addressed the board briefly during consideration.
