The commission voted to approve a revised design for a new building on the St. Luke's block at Christopher and Hudson streets after applicants returned with simplified cornice lines, a taller storefront window, integrated planters and a unified green terracotta facade. Julie Nelson of BKSK said the revision reduces perceived bulk while strengthening datum lines and aligning a granite base with the school's masonry.
The project includes a green roof, integrated planters and a central storefront window elevated two feet for civic scale; Nelson emphasized the site's role as a garden pavilion and noted on-staff garden maintenance at the church will care for planting. Commissioners praised the refinements and approved the item with standard staff coordination on materials and rooftop mechanical screening.
