The Hudson Falls Zoning Board of Appeals approved an area variance Oct. 20 allowing Justin Barber to replace his existing 4-foot chain-link fence with a 6-foot white vinyl privacy fence at 6 Grove Ave.
Justin Barber said he wants the taller vinyl privacy fence "for privacy and more safety for his children." Board Member Michael Willig and Village Code Officer William Celeste discussed corner-lot sight-line concerns; Celeste said the application included a photo showing no impairment to traffic sight lines. Neighbor Deb Breeyear of 20 McDowell Street presented a letter from William Haessly of 21 McDowell Street supporting the application; Breeyear told the board she "sees no issues with visual arising from the change in fencing."
The board reviewed the area-variance factors, issued a negative declaration on the Short EAF, and approved the application by unanimous vote. The motion to approve was made by Board Member Willig and seconded by Board Member Cantiello; recorded ayes were Mahan, Cantiello, Willig and Ward, with Board Member Connelly listed as absent.
